1970's NED CALLAN CUSTOM BASS - PETER COOK LONDON. Circa 1972 this long scale Ned Callan Custom Bass is in pretty good original condition. Serial number 903 on the back of the headstock, mahogany body and neck weighing in at 4.1 kg or just over 9 pounds. Peter Cook, a true British Musical Legend listed his Ned Callan instrument advertisements as... "Guitars & Basses that are Hand-Built by Craftsmen for the informed Musician.” Peter is perhaps most famous for building weird and wonderful Custom Basses for John Entwistle and also his work on Pete Townshend's guitars and eventually, Peter Cook started his own company under the name Ned Callan. In the mid-1970's Cook started using Shergold to assist in the Ned Callan manufacture process. This particular Ned Callan Bass pre-dates Shergold and is one of the original models that was hand-built by Peter Cook. Missing its pick up covers this is a great rare, very cool collectible piece.
